The Story So Far

Four houses, two cross-country moves, and one great partner — here's how we ended up at the foot of the Rockies.

Maggie and I are very excited to now call Manitou Springs home. She is working as a physician here in Colorado Springs, and I am taking the plunge into a career change — establishing myself in Commercial Real Estate. It feels like the right place, the right time, and the right move.

It has been a fun journey with many learning experiences along the way — one in which I have learned deeply about the need for grace in my life. Finding Maggie, my partner and best friend, has been the greatest relationship I have. I am proud of how we got to where we are today.

People have asked — and will ask — if we would move back to Texas. To my mother-in-law's disappointment, I think this is as far south as Maggie will go.

Although you would never guess it based on her activity levels, Maggie cannot stand the heat and suffered from heat rashes constantly as a child. Colorado suits us well.

Transition from Maine

The decision to leave Maine was genuinely difficult. We had exciting professional opportunities there, a desire to connect and serve with the community, and incredible access to the outdoors. We took some very memorable car camping trips through the Northeast, hiked and biked trails that went on forever, and people who genuinely cared. But family was far away, and that weight grew over time.

Once the opportunity here materialized, family, congregating here, Maggie's position in Colorado Springs, and the pull of the mountains, we couldn't turn away from it. The access to the Rockies sealed it. We've already enjoyed ski days, bike rides, and hikes since arriving, and we're just getting started.

Why Manitou Springs

We chose Manitou as our home for the foreseeable future for a few reasons that all pointed in the same direction. The neighborhood itself is fantastic, close-knit, walkable, and full of character. And the trail access is extraordinary: hundreds of miles of trails essentially start at our door.

Equally important, my brother has been in the Springs since 2012 and lives just minutes away with his family. Having him close, and being close to family more broadly, was a big part of why this move made sense. We are ready to put down roots here and start our own family.

When I'm not working, I'm typically doing something outdoors — biking, skiing, ultimate frisbee, running, or hiking. Maggie and I try to get out at least once a month and incorporate the mountains into whatever we're doing. We're excited to explore the Rockies in our new-to-us camper, and there's no shortage of terrain to cover.
